The latest episode of Another Castle is now up! I’m still recovering from a nasty cold so it’s a bit short. I will do my best to remedy this and go more into depth with topics next week.
Since I wasn’t able to delve too far into these topics, here is some more information for those of you that are just wishing there had been that aspect:
- Next-Gen Consoles. There’s not much to elaborate on since Activision’s CEO, Bobby Kotick, didn’t give more details in his prediction. What I can tell you, though, is that the last generation dropped in 8 months for the PlayStation 3 and in 20 months for the XBox 360.
- X-Men: Days of Future Past. Here’s a link for the official trailer. Really can’t wait for this to come out but like I said, I’m trying to not get anything about this spoiled for me. Instead, I’ll just satisfy my need for Marvel entertainment with the fact that Marvel has announced that they will be creating four new original series for Netflix. So if you’re at all interested in Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist (eee!), or Luke Cage, you may want to get a Netflix subscription. Well… okay, to be fair, you won’t need a subscription until 2015. I really like the Netflix exclusive shows and I think it’s actually pretty smart on Marvel Entertainment’s side to go this route. I’m sure the censorship is incredibly different from network television. So even if you don’t know or care about these characters, you may just want to check it out anyhow. (And really, who cared about the Green Arrow before Arrow came out on the CW?)
- WoW Player Base Drops. It’s hard to believe that WoW still has 7.6 million players! That’s pretty incredible since it’s been around since I was in college. It’s gone through 4 expansions and it’s still the #1 MMORPG. The next expansion, Warlords of Draenor has been announced and according to Kotaku, it brings the original trilogy to the game! This XPac will raise the level cap, new character models, and integrate garrisons that are even expandable. Here is the FAQ straight from Blizzard. I remember playing the original WarCraft games all through high school and I love that this XPac sounds like it will integrate a whole lot of the fun parts from the RTS world. The only thing I’m not too excited about is you will be able to boost one character to level 90 and play instantly. Does this seem a little lame to anyone else? Blizz explains that this is because they understand that some players subscribe just to play with their friends. This feels like people that have their friends do their homework in college and then end up with the same degree as everyone else. It just sort of cheapens the experience for me. Oh you have a level 90 char? Cool. Oh you used the insta-boost and probably have no idea how to actually play your class because you didn’t really experience leveling? Do. Not. Want. That being said, though, my excitement for this XPac has not diminished one bit. I can’t wait to get thrown into Draenor!
- Live Action Dead Island Backwards Trailer. Director B.J. McDonnell has taken on the task of recreating frame by frame the Dead Island trailer from 2011 and it is so amazing! You can either following the link in the episode of Another Castle (posted above), or you can follow this link. What you may not know if that the original trailer was picked by Adweek as one of the best ads of the year. The live action is done so well that the lead creative director of the original has called the remake “such a quality production.”
